Why this record matters
Tony reported unfamiliar phone numbers on his accounts, misuse of his credit card and devices he could no longer use. Tony recalls also reporting these problems in 2021, around March and April. This police record documents reports on 26 April and 12 May 2022, before the charge over an alleged phone call. This police record includes his later request for help: police were accusing him of using one of the phone numbers he had reported as fraudulent.

How police recorded it
UNAUTHORISED ACCESS OF FUNDS
Police classified the report as unauthorised access of funds and identity crime. Their July note acknowledges that Tony made the reports before he was charged. It says he had refused an interview, suggests offering him another interview, and records that the officer in charge was notified. (PDF pp. 1–2.)

What Tony asked police to investigate
In April, Tony reported a phone number added to his TPG account that he did not recognise. He asked when his contact details had changed and which device had made the change. In May, he reported an Optus phone number created using his credit card, accounts opened in his name and money transferred from his account.
